Wildlife pond construction and design.

Wildlife pond construction and design is all about the water feature, whatever its size, looking natural. A good knowledge of the technical side of wildlife pond construction with moving water demands discrete use of all equipment and materials throughout the design. As with all aspects of our work, wildlife pond construction revolves around creative professional workmanship.

These are ideal ponds for the smaller garden where space is limited and the main criteria is to blend the pond into your existing design with the minimum of fuss. This by no means limits what you can do, as some of our case photos show.

These type of ponds are very similar to garden ponds in that most of our customers are looking for something natural in their own garden. They want an uncluttered look of nature, without unsightly plastic, fibre glass, concrete or even butyl rubber showing, as with all the pumps and filter systems on view.

Below are photos of natural ponds, waterfalls etc, most taken on the day of completion, but all even at the early stage showing what natural looking wildlife pond construction and design is all about.

Wildlife pond design 1
This pond barely 3m across fits most peoples criteria in this category ie; size, moving water, hidden fixtures and fittings, and the planting to soften the finish.
Here we have a pond 3 years on, machined log edging a stretch of grass and drawing you in, stream at the far end and again no visible liners, pumps, filters etc.   Wildlife pond design 2
Wildlife pond design 3
This pond shows how grass borders the pond, as in a village green and is typical of an open plan duck or lily pond.
These two ponds have a variation of beach and stone finish, using large Caledonian boulders, shingle etc, making it possible to plant the marginals straight into the beach without planting baskets.

All the ponds vary in size, shape and to what extent they are finished off i.e. planting, seating areas and lighting etc.

Whether your criteria be for a wildlife orientated pool for birds, frogs/newts, ducks etc or just for the natural look, it may be for a small area you have available or the design of the whole garden around water, we will use all your thoughts, ideals, criteria and work them to your site, to come up with the ideal framework for your new feature and cost it and draw it up accordingly.
